DISASTER RECOVERY SERVICES



Leads Emergency Disaster Recovery efforts as a consultant for the Federal Emergency Management Agency as well as local Emergency Management Agencies.


Creates and implements disaster recovery plans, prior to potential disasters, as well as leading and managing disaster efforts after the event has occurred.


Served as a FEMA Construction Manager/Recovery Program Manager for the rehabilitation of homes and buildings destroyed or severely damaged during Superstorm Sandy in 2012. Coordinated with local officials to expedite permitting as well as oversaw reconstruction efforts for multiple buildings. Some of these building required raising and rehabilitating to meet the new flood prevention regulations.



Hospital Construction Program Management



Serves as the FEMA Construction Manager/Recovery Program Manager for the construction of a new major state of the art storm resilient acute care hospital tower, on-site parking for 300+ cars, with a 500-year major storm event flood protection perimeter wall system. Work involved the construction of an 11-story hospital tower and a reconfiguration of the hospital campus to provide flood proof access to the new hospital tower and underground mechanized parking. This building has been reconfigured mid-construction to provide pandemic overflow facilities by creating regular hospital room suites with the capacity to be rapidly transformed into ICU configurations. This building is joined to the existing Main and Tower buildings which nearly doubles the hospital capacity and provides the hospital adaptability to newer technologies which will be developed in the future.

MUNICIPAL
Facilities



Primary School 65Q, NYC School Construction Authority, Queens, NY. Construction Manager for the lease site conversion of Primary School 60/62 Annex (now known as Primary School 65 Queens). Oversaw gut rehabilitation of a former avionics factory into a modern school facility. Ensured proper permits were in place with the NYC Department of Buildings, NYC Department of Environmental Protection and NYC Department of Health. This project was successfully completed in 8 months, converting a 55,000 SF factory building into a modern school facility with a state-of-the-art kitchen and dining facility, modern computer classrooms, multipurpose gym/auditorium, handicap lift facilities, parents’ rooms and teachers’ preparation areas, complete science lab and all the most modern in conveniences including fully air-conditioned spaces. Additionally, the project that had been budgeted at $6.5 Million was completed $650,000 under budget. Project value: $7.85 Million.


LaGuardia Community College, NYS Dormitory Authority, Queens, NY, Served as Construction Manager for a project that involved the total demolition and removal of the interior of an old factory building. New classrooms, laboratories, kitchen and dining facilities were constructed and installed. A state-of-the-art electronic fire protection and security system was installed, providing for real time assessment and control of emergencies. Extensive office spaces were also constructed for teachers and staff, meeting all of the latest electronic and teaching conveniences. Project value: $5.3 Million.


Intermediate School 226Q, NYC School Construction Authority, Queens, NY. Resident Engineer/Project Manager for the HVAC upgrade at IS 226 in Queens, NY. Total reconstruction of the entire heating and cooling plant for the school. Removed all existing mechanical devices including the boilers, replaced with new devices. Certified the work, inspected for compliance with NYS DEC and NYC DEP regulations. Ensured proper permitting for new boilers, fuel tanks and piping systems. Project value: $5.5 Million.



police and Courts



New Jersey State Police, Troop C Headquarters, Firing Range and Forensic Technology Center, Hamilton Township, NJ. Served as the Construction Manager/Resident Engineer, overseeing the construction of three buildings, a fuel farm, a helipad facility as well as the forensic lab facility for South New Jersey. Ensured the proper permits and certifications of the police facility and oversaw the laboratory certifications and acceptances by federal and state agencies. This fast-track project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget. Project value: $95 Million.



TRANSIT



Bus Maintenance Facility, NYC Transit, Brooklyn, NY, Served as the Construction Manager, brought in because the project was in danger of foundering due to poor work, safety issues and labor trouble with the General Contractor. He quickly and decisively brought the project back into line and fast-tracked the completion of the new construction of a bus depot and state of the art maintenance facility. Project value: $45.85 Million.
